Grauman's Chinese theatre is one of the most premiere and famous theatres in the world. It opened in 18th May, 1927 and within a short span of time numerous movie lovers have drawn here. The theatre has a number of academy awards to its credit. Featuring in a number of TV serials and movies, it has been an integral part of Hollywood.

The theatre was a dream of Sid Grauman, a Chinese who was known as "Hollywood's Master Showman." The first film being premiered was Cecil B. DeMille's “The King of Kings,” which was preceded by "Glories of the Scriptures," a live prologue devised by master showman Sid Grauman. A Wurlitzer organ and 65- piece orchestra provided music for the prologue.

Grauman's Chinese Theatre is the most sought- after theatre in Hollywood for studio premieres. Fans flock to these events to see the celebrities arrive and walk up the red carpet into the theatre.
The Grauman's Chinese Theatre was declared a historic- cultural landmark in 1968, and from time to time the theater is beautified. Additionally, several earthquake retrofits were required to protect the structure and ensure its permanence. With this facelift, the Chinese Theatre will continue to be the preferred location for the industries' most prestigious premieres for years to come.
